ALEC History

Abundant Life Evangelistic Center Photo     The vision of Abundant Life Evangelistic Center (ALEC) was birthed in Pastor Johnson while he and his family were stationed in the United Kingdom, England. In early 1990, a few believers assembled for prayer and bible study in the Pastors home. Later that year in the month of August, ALEC met for its first service at 2418 Government St., in Ocean Springs, Miss.

During the initial service held in this facility God blessed ALEC with a great outpouring of His Spirit and several new families were added to the church. Immediately, God began to move mightily and ALEC continued to experience growth in all areas. The growth and other building matters caused ALEC to relocate to 8724 Ocean Springs Road for approximately two years

In February 1993, ALEC relocated to 1710 Government Street. It was there that God blessed us to experience more growth, a deeper dedication, and a greater commitment to prayer. Subsequently, God blessed us to purchase our first parcel of land at this location during the month of June 1994.

The groundbreaking ceremony for our new location took place on October 27th, 1995 and the foundation was laid on March 14th, 1996. Our first service was held 4 months later on July 14th, 1996, and our Church Dedication Celebration was held on October 11th later that year. In the month of December 1997, we completed our Phase II-North Wing project, and in the beginning of February 1999, our Phase III project, "The Upper Room" was in full operation.

On March 27th, 2001, God had blessed us so much that we PAID the final mortgage payment on our new edifice, and on the 8th of April of the same year, we burned our mortgage; this after only 4 short years.

On April 28th of 2002 we became, "One church in 2 Locations” celebrating the grand opening of our 2nd location in the Southgate Plaza, 3438 Main Street, Moss Point, MS., which later moved to 3712 Old Mobile Hwy in Pascagoula Mississippi.

God has continued to bless us by enlarging our territory on Rodenberg. On May 25, 2004 we celebrated the extension of our education department by adding 2,400 square feet of additional classrooms to support our nursery and youth church.
